Jo Ann Ekblad

Financial and Estate Literacy [FEL] would like to welcome its newest team member, Jo Ann Ekblad.

Most recently, Jo Ann was the Program and Communications Director for the nonprofit Laguna Beach Seniors at the Susi Q Senior Center — a host site for “It’s Your Money and “It’s Your Estate” Workshops for over ten years.

From January 2016 through June of 2024, she was responsible for developing and overseeing all educational programming initiatives including classes, workshops, seminars, special events, etc. Jo Ann developed and implemented organization fundraising initiatives, and cultivated partner and donor relationships. Her dual role included overseeing the organization’s communication strategy, managing media relations, creating marketing campaigns and crafting messaging to build awareness.

She found the most rewarding aspect of working with the senior population was the opportunity to build strong personal connections with so many center participants — making an impact on their quality of life and receiving immense gratitude in return. A passion and goal of hers, is to stay connected to serving the 50+ population.

Prior to joining Laguna Beach Seniors, Jo Ann spent over 20 years in corporate brand management, marketing, and strategic planning for some of the world’s best-known brands in media, hospitality, healthcare, organic foods and publishing including Fox TV, Marriott, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Whole Foods and the American Bar Association.

Jo Ann holds a BS in Communications from the University of Illinois. She loves the Clubs, Bears, and Blackhawks, pickleball and is a three-time hiker “top-to-bottom’ Grand Canyon hiker.
